The re-opening of Watersports Continues…

We have successfully piloted the re-opening of the Watersports Centre with the assistance of the Sailing and Jet-ski clubs.

We are now satisfied that the measures we have in place are working to ensure the safe use of the lake and we can now go ahead with the second phase of re-opening.

From Saturday 27th June the lake will be open from 10:00 – 16:00 everyday for customers who wish to launch their own equipment. This includes sailing dinghies, windsurfers, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. The use of lilos and other inflatables is not permitted.

All payment will be contactless, however customers will only be able to purchase launch fees since hire of Centre equipment is still not possible. Customers must have the use of their own Buoyancy aids and wetsuits. The Watersports / Activity Centre toilets and changing facilities will remain closed to the public so customers must come prepared to go afloat without the use of these areas.

To ensure we can operate the lake certain conditions apply:

·       The maximum windspeed will be force 3 (approx. 13mph).

·       Only the southern half of the lake will be open to allow shore-based rescue cover from in front of the Watersports Centre.

·       Dinghies need to be fitted with mast head floatation, a 2m long painter and righting lines to assist self-rescues.

Please be aware that the Park is still operating with reduced vehicle access. All watersports customers will be included in the total number of vehicle entries. Should you arrive when the Park has reached this limit, access will be restricted until such time as capacity within the Park has reduced. There is no waiting, vehicles will be turned around at the entrance to the Park – a surfboard or kayak on the roof of the car will not guarantee entry.

When you arrive please report to the Watersports / Actvity Centre reception and follow the directions of the staff on duty where they will be able to assist you have a safe and enjoyable time back on the water.

Please wear a mask or face covering when entering the watesrports / activity centre and cycle centre buildings inline with COVID-19 Government Guidelines.
